MYSIE HEARTBEAT

Following on from some brilliant new releases, South-London’s Mysie has dropped the fantastic ‘Heartbeat’. Her upbringing saw her immersed in Ugandan jazz, while the likes of Mac DeMarco took her experimental take on popular music to the next level. This tune continues her aim avoid typical popular music formula, and pulls it off with an impressive emotional dexterity that bounces off of the 80s percussion and murky synth sounds. On writing it, she says “It’s about knowing you have a choice to grow with or without that person” adds Mysie. “It takes two people to pour love into a relationship, regardless of distance. If you want to make it work you’ll make it work”. Be on the lookout for her next release. - Dan Peeke
